pineapple!!!!!!!!!

This tangy favourite  is believed to originate from the Caribbean Islands and South America. It had spread to many parts of the tropic and sub tropics thanks to ancient sailors who took it with them to prevent scurvy at sea. Johor is most famous for its pineapple plantations, although the fruit is also grown in Perak, Selangor, Terengganu and Sarawak.

Several varieties are available. The "Mauritius" is characterized by its elongated shape, golden yellow colour and crispy flesh. "N36" is a mixed hybrid mainly for canning. And "Josapine", with a cylindrical base has a dry, crispy flesh.

Pineapples are widely used to make jam, cordial, nata mixture, juice, pickles and fruit cocktail.



PINEAPPLE EATEN FRESH IS BELIEVED TO PREVENT DIGESTION PROBLEMS BECAUSE IT CONTAINS BROMELAIN, WHICH HELPS IMPROVES THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM.
